CPM 097 - Change Management
Course Description
Though some people might jokingly say government and public agencies change at the pace of molasses in January, change does happen and it can be difficult whether you are on the receiving end or creating end of change. This course is intended to provide tools to help you manage not just the process of change, but also the people aspect of change. This course is also intended to help you gain clarity about your Capstone Project by treating it as a change initiative which you would be implementing in your organization or department.
The learning objectives for this course are:
- Identify strategies to manage change in a public setting.
- Assess your change management strengths and opportunities for improvement.
- Assess your organizational culture and change readiness.
- Work with a six-step model to implement change in the workplace.
- Use the DiSC to understand how people react differently to change and develop strategies for helping them adapt to change successfully.
- Identify roles individuals take within the organization during a change.
- Create a communication plan to inform staff about a change initiative.
- Apply a six-step model to your proposed Capstone Project.
- Develop short-term, mid-term and long-term metrics to measure the success of a change initiative.
- Assess the risks of the negative impact of a change initiative.
- Select methods to motivate staff through a change initiative.
- View change from the perspective of an employee.
